The Place at Cabo Announces Upcoming Opening of the Los Cabos Discovery Center Immersive Museum and Historical Exhibition to Boost Local Culture and Tourism
The Place at Cabo continues to solidify its position as a premier cultural and tourist destination with the recent completion of street and walkway renovations and the upcoming opening of its innovative Discovery Center Los Cabos immersive museum. This was announced by Idania Salmón, Marketing Director, who emphasized that this project will mark a turning point for the municipality and the state, elevating the destination to new levels of tourism experiences.
“The immersive museum is something that elevates our destination; we are achieving some really great things. We haven't finished yet, there's more to come; but we already have a steady flow of local visitors, which is our anchor and helps to lessen the impact of the off-season,” Salmón stated. For his part, Carlos Arámburo, Experience Director of The Place at Cabo, announced that the museum's official opening will be on June 9 at 6:00 p.m., with an exclusive ribbon-cutting ceremony for the exhibit dedicated to the Sea of Cortez. This immersive experience, which will last approximately 60 minutes, will feature four themed rooms in a bilingual format, where each space represents different aspects of the Gulf of California's marine ecosystem.
Technology plays a fundamental role in this concept, which includes a main room with a 360-degree projection; "what happens on the right side is not the same as what happens on the left or on the floor," Arámburo explained. "The essence is for visitors to experience the sensation of diving without being in the water."
With an investment of approximately 100 million pesos, this new attraction adds to the catalog of tourist services in Los Cabos, positioning the destination not only nationally but also internationally as a showcase for immersive experiences. The museum will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a general admission price of $820,000 pesos and special discounts for locals, school groups, and students.
In addition, The Place at Cabo presented the historical exhibition titled “Before Paradise: History of Los Cabos,” which includes verified facts, authentic drawings by the Pericúes—the region's original inhabitants—and vintage photographs. “It's part of our identity. We want to offer history, art, culture, gastronomy, and experiences,” said Idania Salmón.
Gilda Badillo, photographer and collaborator on the project, emphasized the importance of cultural activities for local tourism: “Many people pass through here—cruise ship passengers, locals, visitors to the corridor—and what better than to have diverse options to offer? The photographs are taken with love to convey our culture and history and create an identity that we all carry in our hearts.” Víctor H. Caballero, head of the South Baja California Institute of Culture, also spoke, celebrating that a tourism company in the San Lucas Marina is promoting local history and culture: “It is essential that visitors know that, beyond the big parties, there is a culture, a tradition, and a past very much alive in people's lives. It is a great success to have an iconic space where the essence of South Baja California is showcased.”
With these initiatives, The Place at Cabo reaffirms its commitment to promoting cultural tourism and strengthening the identity of Los Cabos, generating a positive impact for both tourists and the local community.
