Mexico’s Tourist Promotion Council held it´s Marketing Committee for the first time in Los Cabos

Rodolfo Lopez Negrete, director of the council mentioned that... “Los Cabos was chosen for this meeting which is held outside of Mexico City for the first time because of its importance as a tourist destination and the success it’s had in both the national and international markets”…

Los Cabos is the destination that is producing the best numbers in terms of growth.

"It's the first time we have the opportunity to receive the CPTM with this committee here in Los Cabos" noted Reuben Reachi, State Secretary of Tourism.

Some of the companies representing where: Funjet, Pleasant Holydays, and airlines such as American Airlines Vacations.

American Airlines Chairman stated that “…this is a great opportunity to project Los Cabos as the best tourist destination in Mexico and Latin America.

He also mentioned that it is important to continue to invest in promotion in the US and Canada and to keep in mind that they are the main markets for Los Cabos and that the continued creation of new programs to attract visitors will allow for continued growth

In a related topic the marketing committee for Mexico’s Tourist Promotion Council addressed during their meeting the importance of offering a solution to certain topics one of which is the delays in international arrivals that required more staff to serve the number of arrivals and shorten the time to process all the visitors that arrive to Los Cabos.

Build a Bike or Build a Bike Together

This past weekend in Cabo San Lucas a unique event took place benefitting the children of Los Cabos and in coordination with the Tourism Trust for Los Cabos and the participation of Gary Sinise, a well-known actor and star of CSI New York, and the movie Forrest Gump.

Build a Bike or Build a Bike Together gathered other altruistic groups in Los Cabos such as Stars and Stripes, Golden State Foods and pro sports organizations TricaboKidz, Pedal Power and Family Recreation Bikeway Cabo San Lucas.

Gary Sinise: "I was here 20 years ago, in 1993...it is very different, it has grown considerably since 20 years ago...I've heard how much it had grown, and I would say since I was here in 1993 it has changed a bit! And now beaches and everything its very exciting to be here, it's a wonderful place."

The actor spoke about his involvement in the Stars and Stripes organization.

Gary Sinise (translated): "Well we have many colleagues in the military who have been injured in the last 30 years of war. My foundation is to serve and try to give back to them through the foundation garysinise.org and we do what we can to make sure we take good care of our military colleagues."

He also referred to the concert that his band "The Lt. Dan Band" offered in a hotel in Los Cabos as part of the events of Stars and Stripes.

Gary Sinise: "Yes, and we should not forget the people who have and are defending us, and that's what I try to do, go out there and do concerts with my band to support the military and do what we can to raise awareness and seek funds to take care of them."

Sinise continued: "Lieutenant Dan Is the character I played in Forrest Gump 20 years ago, and you know, I started visiting hospitals and visiting the wounded, service members who identified with the character, so just after a while, I got used to calling the band by the character name, but the band is part of my nonprofit foundation, I don’t profit on it--the money I raise is only to help and give back to veterans and care for military families."

One of the beneficiaries is John Mason who unfortunately was severely wounded in the war in Afghanistan and is now ambassador for "Stars and Stripes"

John Mason (Wounded veteran): "Well Stars and Stripes definitely makes a lot of money for our program to help children, I got involved as part of the foundation with Gary Sinise and The Lt. Dan band. The band had a show last night and I was his guest and I am an ambassador and benefitted from it, and you know, we got together to form a great team here and we are doing everything for the kids."

Gary Sinise: "There is nothing better than seeing the kids happy, and I see a lot of happy kids here and that is something important. These kids are having a great time. We will be giving these bikes away. This organization is doing a wonderful job. I understand that this happens every Sunday! Fantastic!"

18 years ago The Dicko started with the idea of helping children by organizing a fishing tournament at the Chileno bay Hotel. This has continued and now with the invaluable collaboration of Chuck Brown, one of the main organizers for this event and who makes this possible and to bring his compatriots to join these efforts is amazing!

The Dicko: "The idea came ... I was writing my goals down on paper, and wrote "do something good for the kids every year," and for 10 years I did nothing, and one day I was mad at myself and all of a sudden the idea came to me...what I meant was that all the people of Los Cabos, that the Americans can come and help, not just come and use the beaches, bars, golf courses and so that's what I wanted: to have everyone understand that we are here for you too, that's all I want. Thanks to these events we have been able to achieve more, taking the kids to school and then university, looking to reach a better future with better conditions to work in and become a contributor in the progress of Los Cabos."

He also participated in the Pedal Power sports that promote green energy.

Club 500 visits Los Cabos

Saturday 31 1:30 pm arrived at Casa Hogar Cabo San Lucas with a truck Club 500 members of The Mark Travel Corporation and its various brands among them are owners and representatives of the top 200 retail travel agencies in the United States, The top 200 travel agencies in the category Gold & Platinum (Gold and Platinum ) behind the brands and products of The Mark Travel Corporation (TMTC), which include Funjet Vacations, United Vacations and Southwest Vacations in the United States to Mexico.

For about two hours, toured the facilities and interacted with the children taking pictures, painting, etc, the Director of the Children's Home and managers, gave a detailed explanation of how the institution is run, and how it supports each child according to their needs.

Finishing the tour, they invite you to go to the soccer field for as part of their social work, collaborate painting the walls thereof, the atmosphere was great enthusiasm, and all were very committed to the time to help and happy to support such causes.

They also gave more pantries and gifts for children.
In the afternoon, at about 730 visited downtown San Jose del Cabo which made an "art walk" to finalize the day's activities with a dinner in the restaurant Don Sanchez.

It is noteworthy that the Tourism Board of Los Cabos is an Official Sponsor of the Annual Convention "Platinun 500 Club". Importantly, this work trip and incentive, includes only accounts best 100 travel agents for production
Mexico, so our mission is a unique promotional effort of its kind, focused on generating a higher volume of these tourists to our destination, the short term.

Cabo Marine Show 2014

For the last five years, one of Mexico’s most popular boat shows has been held annually in downtown Cabo San Lucas at the IGY Marina. The Cabo Marine Show returns May 15-17, 2014, in an event expected to draw more than 4,000 visitors to docks K-M outside the Wyndham Cabo San Lucas hotel. The confirmation of Bisbee’s solidifies a joint effort to continue supporting the Los Cabos tourism and sport fishing markets.

“The Cabo Marine Show is much more than a nautical event,” it’s also about creating a network between exhibitors and local business owners. More than 50 local, national and international companies will display more than a dozen vessels, plus the latest in gadgets, engines, gear, marine products and accessories.

Cherie Calbom presented her latest book in Los Cabos

Cherie Calbom earned a Master of Science degree in nutrition from Bastyr University.  She has practiced as a clinical nutritionist at St. Luke Medical, Bellevue, Washington, and as a celebrity nutritionist for George Foreman and Richard Simmons. Known as “The Juice Lady™” for her work with juicing and health, her juice therapy and cleansing programs have been popular for more than a decade. She became known as George Foreman’s nutritionist and the other spokesperson for the George Foreman grills in 1996. She appeared continuously with Salton’s Juice Lady juicer and Juice man juicer and the George Foreman grills on QVC for thirteen years where she sold millions of dollars in products.
