# LosCabos10 also on movie screens!

Cine 1 2

There is no better place to enjoy a movie than the movie theater. That space where viewers surrender to an immersive experience made up of the darkness and majesty of the big screens.

This year, in addition to presenting its attractive online programming, the Los Cabos International Film Festival returns to theaters with four face-to-face performances starring some of the most acclaimed films of the year:

Audience Award Winner at the Last Toronto Film Festival, Belfast, directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Jamie Dornan, Caitríona Balfe and Judi Dench; The Eyes of Tammy Faye, the gripping story of a religious con artist who could lead Jessica Chastain into the arms of the Oscar; Mass, a powerful portrait of two grieving families spearheaded by the brilliant performance of Ann Dowd (a favorite for the upcoming awards season); and the long-awaited return of Sean Baker, one of the Festival's spoiled filmmakers, who surprised specialized critics at the Cannes Film Festival with Red Rocket.

Buddy (Jude Hill) finds himself in the midst of a series of social clashes that dominated the streets of Northern Ireland in the late 1960s. Supported by his grandparents (Judi Dench and Ciarán Hinds), his mother (Caitríona Balfe) and his father (Jamie Dornan), who seeks to bring his family to England, the 9-year-old will open up to life and love, without allow your dreams to be interrupted by division in your community. Inspired by his own story, Kenneth Branagh delivers an emotional story where he confirms himself as a great actor director, while capturing, through masterful photography, the feelings of a family that is torn between pursuing a better future or abandoning the place that gave them identity and shelter for generations.

Tammy Faye (Jessica Chastain) seemed to have it all: a loving husband, unwavering faith, the affection of millions of Americans, and one of the world's largest religious empires. However, behind her gaze, the woman hides the weight she carries from the failed relationship with her mother (Cherry Jones), the secrets in her marriage to the evangelist telepreacher Jim Bakker (Andrew Garfield) and the lies that they sustained her success. Following her fall from grace, director Michael Showalter presents a gripping character study spearheaded by the powerful performance of Jessica Chastain, who blends in with Faye beyond the endless layers of makeup and costumes that made her famous in the '70s and' 80s.

Gail (Martha Plimpton) and Jay (Jason Isaacs) have been dealing with the grief of their son's death for six years. For their part, Linda (Ann Dowd) and Richard (Reed Birney) have been carrying the brunt of their deceased son's actions for the same time. In an attempt to end their mourning and continue their lives, the quartet of parents meet in a room in their village church. There, a heartbreaking conversation will lead them to catharsis and forgiveness. Guided by the powerful plot and controlled direction of Franz Kranz, the surprising cast of actors - masterfully led by Ann Dowd - falls into a whirlwind of pain, guilt and empathy where reconciliation seems to be a distant goal.

After years of career as a porn actor, Mickey Saber (Simon Rex) returns to the Texas town where he put his life on hold in an attempt to become a Hollywood star. Staying in the house of the wife he abandoned years ago (Bree Elrod), who becomes his only support in the face of the rejection of his neighbors and his precarious financial situation, Mickey will try to get a second chance to achieve fame and success , no matter who you drag on this road. Sean Baker takes up one of the constants in his filmography, the failure of the American dream, in a scathing film that contrasts its luminosity with the desolation that surrounds a protagonist who oscillates between aspirations and narcissism, played to perfection by Simon Rex.

The government of Baja California Sur will support the 2022 edition of the Los Cabos Tennis Open

ATP 1

The government of Baja California Sur will support the 2022 edition of the Los Cabos Tennis Open

Governor Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío met with organizers of the Los Cabos Tennis Open, led by director José Antonio Fernández. This tournament in 5 years has managed to position itself as one of the most important in the country and has projected this destination nationally and internationally, in addition to generating an important economic spill.

During the meeting held at the Government Palace, the South Californian president expressed his interest in supporting the 2022 edition of this sporting event attended by national and international tennis players.

The Los Cabos Tennis Open (ATC), ATP 250 category, translates into a local economic spill, as local suppliers and equipment and supplies for the logistics required by the event are hired.

It is worth mentioning that this tournament was held this year, in the month of July, although without the presence of fans, because the pandemic situation that existed at that time did not allow it.

In 2019, the last time the ATC was held, more than 20,000 fans were present and mobilized industries such as hotels and gastronomy. That figure represented a 6% growth over viewers in 2018.

Inspired by the Stone Arch, this is the Cineminuto de Los Cabos 10

FICLC 1

The Los Cabos International Film Festival kicks off its tenth anniversary celebrations with the premiere of a fantastic Cineminuto, directed by the Cabeño artists David Liles and Hugo Payén.

A diver dressed in a diving suit explores a dreamlike space where the waves merge with the desert and marine fauna - fish and whales - roam the starry skies captured by cinematographer Jorge Pineda. The light that emanates from the diving suit is projected on the impressive landscape of Baja California Sur, as if it were a movie projector that reveals all its elements. In this setting conquered by the sea, we discover the legendary Calypso, the ship that the mythical oceanographer Jacques Cousteau sailed before describing the Gulf of California as "the world's aquarium."

For the tenth edition, the filmmakers, through their production company Apix Films, bet on producing a completely digital “Cineminuto” to reflect the present of the Festival, thus showing the emblematic Stone Arch as a new portal, a window full of possibilities, and the place where the best cinema converges.

¨With this Cineminuto, we seek to honor our heritage, as well as to expose the natural heritage¨ _: David Liles. ¨Being the first digital Cineminuto in ten years, it reflects the essence and the present of the Festival itself¨: Hugo Payén.

Apix Films productions have been part of film festivals such as Cannes Court Métrage, Sitges Film Festival, Havana International New Latin American Film Festival and Los Cabos International Film Festival. They have also collaborated with productions from Anomia, BlankSquare Productions, Hallmark, and NETFLIX.

Breaking record as the largest millionaire tournament in the world, the 41st edition of the traditional Bisbee's "Black and Blue" makes history in 2021 with a purse of 9.8 million dollars and a record number in the registry of participating boats, showing that Los Cabos is a resilient destination, positioning itself as one of the most important destinations internationally:

Tourists from all over the world gathered this morning at the Cabo San Lucas Marina to witness the traditional starting gun. In addition, this year it concentrated Japanese vessels, reaching Asian audiences despite the restrictions that are imposed on the Asian continent for international tourists.
