Interview with Carlos Mendoza Davis, Governor of Baja California Sur from FITUR 2020

In an exclusive interview with Carlos Mendoza Davis, Governor of Baja California Sur from the International tourism fair FITUR 2020, he commented on the work accomplished during this important International Fair.

Well, for the first time I as governor if, however, Baja California Sur in all the years of my administration has participated very enthusiastically in these jobs because they are so important for the tourism sector, not only of the country, but of the world, without The most important tourist services fair in the Spanish-speaking world and Baja California Sur doubts that it must necessarily be present.

Without a doubt, well first of all yesterday we had a very interesting dinner with his majesty, King Felipe who organized the world tourism organization, depending on whether the 40th anniversary of this fair is celebrated or celebrated and of course we have to show Baja California Sur what we have been doing to grow tourism, not only our strengths, our infrastructure and our natural beauty, but also how we have done to ensure that it is preserved and that we can inherit an environmental heritage to our children, so that they can continue enjoying them and also of course those who visit us, I think that in Baja California Sur in that sense we are on the right track and convinced that tourism is our development path.

Undoubtedly, there are those who say that we are the jewel of the crown in Mexico in terms of tourism, and of course we are convinced that this is the route we must follow, the growth we have achieved, the employment that has been achieved generated, the decrease in the levels of poverty that the State has had in a sustained way, because it makes us think that this is the bet that we must follow and that this is where we should develop.

Precisely because Baja California Sur is an interesting example in terms of sustainability but also in terms of development, as we have made tourism the machine, the locomotive that pulls our economy, is that they have invited us to participate in a very interesting forum, where we have to talk about what we have done and contrast our experiences with other people, in addition to that we have several meetings with airlines, we are looking to take if possible more flights from Europe to Baja California Sur with tourism developers, with hotel builders, with intermediaries, with wholesalers, in short, we are here to seek to bring more business to Baja California Sur and that we continue to grow.

Of course, if Armando, thanks also to you for being covering this event, it is very important, I am pleased to see many actors related to Baja California Sur at this fair, and well we are going to take a lot and get the best results for our state.

Interview with Rodrigo Esponda, Director of the Tourism Trust of BCS since FITUR 2020

Rodrigo Esponda cover FITUR min

In an exclusive interview with Rodrigo Esponda, Dir. Of the Tourism Trust for BCS he tells us details about his participation in the International Tourism Fair in Madrid, Spain

Well look Armando we have achieved several very interesting negotiations with Tour operators and wholesalers from the Spanish market, with which we have developed strategies,  among them, obviously the Corte Ingles, with which we have a working relationship of many years, with Logitravel which is another of the larger companies  with AVASA, which is a consortium of travel agencies,  located in different parts of Spain, and has also had  very relevant production, according to airlines such as Aeromexico and Iberia. We also had  meetings with the main companies and with  Governor César Mendoza with whom we reviewed the communication programs, established marketing strategies and are reviewing in order to have a direct flight from Spain to Los Cabos in the short term, obviously by a season, which is the summer season, hopefully next year, 2021 it can happen. We had a meeting with the president of the consortium called ABORIS, which is a very large consortium that has acquired several companies in Spain, and with them we have been reviewing the data, so it has been very productive obviously we were also with TUI that’s the company as you know is flying from London, we check what’s the result of the veins, which are being generated, we signed the world purchasing congress that will be held in the destination next October, so very positive things also ...

This is the world purchasing congress, it’s a congress that will be held in October and is organized by the UNWTO, so it will be the first congress that  UNWTO holds in our country, in Mexico, and will be attended by the Secretary General and many other officials and that in addition it is understood in the sense of purchases not only of what can be generated from transactions, but of local purchases, that is, what this congress is looking for is to encourage the consumption of local products, expertise and services, so we are sure we have a lot to offer ...

Obviously the primary market for us remains and will remain the United States, we are not neglecting it, simply the European market is an incremental market that will generate a position in the European markets that will give us incremental tourists who stay longer, than It gives us global positioning, which gives us brand presence, but obviously the United States market will continue to be, and right now the FITURCA team is in 3 cities in the United States doing caravans, promotions in different segments, that we will continue to do so very proactive but obviously participating in fairs like this gives us a relevance and an international presence that Los Cabos as a destination definitely deserves.

There are very interesting events before, next week there is the world aviation congress where we negotiate (air traffic) routes.  That will be in Indianapolis, and there we will be gathered, and after the Indianapolis congress, we will be at ATV in Germany which is also very event important.

Interview with Secretary of Tourism, Sustainability and Economy in BCS Luis H. Araiza

Luis Araiza Cover FITUR min

In an exclusive interview for Grupo Cabo Vision the Secretary from Baja California Sur, Luis H. Araiza spoke to us about the importance in attending this type of international forums for the promotion and development of our         tourist destination.

It has been a great fair on the 40th anniversary, we have brought a very important agenda and the most outstanding things I can say that we brought an outstanding DE luxury ambassador who is our Governor and that helps us underpin the promotional work tourism and investment, also very important for Baja California Sur to continue consolidating as the best destination in Mexico and the world.

This very important forum where our Governor participated, highlighted the importance of tourism as an employment provider, as one of the most important sources of employment, not only in the world, of course in our State,  where the main vocation is tourism and how we can take advantage of, for example, the issue of supply or training to bridge the social gap that tourism sometimes generates by creating deficiencies at the social level, so I think we have good examples in Baja California Sur of how Tourism also benefits people.

Sustainability is the topic in Vogue, tourism can’t be apart from this issue, so the importance of our State in the sustainability issue is to be  immersed in the tourism and economy agendas, as is and we will continue working, because for those countries, destinations or regions that favor sustainability come more successful attracting new travelers who  privilege places that take actions in favor of the ecology and the environment,  It’s very important and we will achieve good results in terms of connectivity soon, we were also seeing the results of the flight from London to Los Cabos and it is having very good results and that of course will help us to achieve better outcomes in the near future.

Interview with Francisco Madrid, Doctorate in Tourism since FITUR 2020

Francisco Madrid Cover FITUR min

We present the exclusive interview that the team of Cabovision.tv conducted to Francisco Madrid, Doctorate in Tourism, from the International Tourism Fair of Spain FITUR 2020

If until last year I was director of the Faculty of Tourism and Gastronomy of the Universidad Anáhuac México, and this year the university has decided to support me to undertake a new initiative, the launch of a Think Tank, a strategic thinking center, to work as the hand of the tourism business sector in our country, in the construction of a better positioning of tourism in people, we say that there is a lot of information, but despite the relevant information, by the way, the size of the tourism GDP by itself, it could be enough to end any discussion of the importance of tourism, it must be recognized that tourism is not the protagonist of the country's agenda, nor in the great economic, political decisions, nor in the opinion leaders opinion is present, we want then, recognize that we have not been able, neither with the information, nor with the work of the industry to move society, to captivate the society; The center, then, has as a distinctive sign, the passing of the data to the story about the importance of tourism to better position the tourism sector. Every 10 days or so, we will generate a document with some relevant angle for this topic or to build solutions for the industry, or to strengthen our position as an academic research center; the project is underway, it has its website and its twitter account, it is, if you put cicotur anahuac already can find it, the twitter account is @ cicoturanahuac ...

I believe that the government as a whole has to put its own distinctive signs, they have arrived with enormous democratic legitimacy that no one can spare and they define their priorities, they have defined their priorities in tourism, the topic is very clear, we would like and we think other things, what I think is that we have to be able to add, we don't have to impose an agenda, that will not change, and we are very wrong if we believe that we are able to impose an agenda, what we have to do is to understand what the agenda is, to help them with that agenda, and I believe that tourism has a place, because that social agenda is the distinctive sign, it seems to me, of the government find in tourism an ally, but We have to say a little, the thread of what I propose with this stamp is not only to come to say is that tourism imposes this, no, it is to convince them, understand that society is more attentive to what happens and understand how it benefits these things are efficient ...

They do not remain the same, there is sure an acknowledgment of receipt but also, if you check what happened in Cabo in December with international passengers, because it grew 8%, maybe what happens is that the destinations that have capacity have to make a living by themselves, as Cabos is doing, and they do it very well, Vallarta grew 0.5% did not lose, maybe there is a strategic slope to attend, I think we are, it is very difficult to establish summary judgments, there are realities and we have to adapt to these realities ...

We made a timely study of the topic that on the website I have quoted can be downloaded, and we recognize that you cannot go against technology, that you cannot go with such a strong trend in the market, but that you have to propitiate a situation of couple court, it is good that families are dedicated to this business as a complement of income, but that they pay taxes, and that on the subject of the study that we did on behalf of the National Association of Hotel Chains, the Ministry of Finance already assumed it and put in the Miscellaneous Fiscal; what is needed today is that what is already in place is fulfilled, and that is that they are Service Providers that have to pay taxes, VAT and income tax in principle, we suggest other stages right there, we know that for example in the Senate Work is being done on an initiative to modify the general tourism law, so that there is no doubt that they are Tourism Service Providers.
