Underwater attractions in Los Cabos

Dive in Los Cabos

Los Cabos, Baja California Sur has, for lovers of the sea, in addition to its spectacular beaches, the incomparable beauty of its underwater world.

The Bay of Cabo San Lucas, which is considered one of the most attractive for diving not only for its wide variety of marine flora and fauna, but also for its famous perpetual sand waterfalls discovered in 1959 by Francis Shepard of the Scripps Oceanographic Institution in San Diego, California, and which were revealed by the well-known French oceanologist Jacques-Yves Cousteau.

For the more experienced there is Punta Gorda, east of San José del Cabo:

Miguel Noriega, Diving Service Provider: “…it's a deep dive, approximately seven miles off the coast of San José, and it's a great place to dive to see big animals. Orcas, marlin, mantas, sharks and all that kind of stuff but it's for more advanced divers…”

Other sites in front of the tourist corridor of Los Cabos are “la bufadora” in front of El Chileno beach and in front of Santa María and Cabeza de Ballena…”

Night diving is also an experience worth living.

Miguel Noriega, Diving Service Provider: “…the night dives are also great, you see another variety of fish at night.”

The variety of fish is very extensive, from the famous puffer fish to the trumpet fish, the yellow-tailed sergeant fish, snappers and parakeets, lobsters and manta rays, not to mention the playful sea lions.

Dianne Smith, Seattle, USA: “it was excellent, very good…we saw octopuses, guitar sharks and other species good visibility…it is very different from other places where I have dived…”

Enrique Martínez, Manager of the dive shop: “…right now, for example, it is the cold water season…it is important, in fact, to bring a complete wetsuit and a thick wetsuit that is seven mm and we are also using the hoods for all customers so that they go more comfortable and warm…”

Humberto Isaza, New Jersey, USA: “We went to the arch and went to where the point is and the Pacific and the Sea of Cortez…the water was very clean and a little cold…and we went into a cave, very beautiful…”

Isabel Isaza, New Jersey, USA: “ Today was very beautiful, more pleasant than yesterday, we saw many fish nearby and manta rays in the sand and when I got closer they would swim out, it was really beautiful…”

Immersing yourself in that other world under the sea is an experience worth having at least once in your life.

The laboratory analyzes that were carried out on seawater samples taken in the last two weeks by personnel from the State Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (COEPRIS), corroborate that the beaches of Baja California Sur are in optimal conditions for recreational use.

The samplings carried out in the framework of the Clean Beaches Program in 37 coastal areas of Los Cabos, La Paz, Loreto and Comondú, where there is a high influx of bathers, reveal that their sanitary circumstances are of excellence, since they are well below the limits established by international standards.
