The secretary indicated that for the current administration it is a priority for tourism to achieve its recovery in all segments, the sports market being one of the most relevant for the entity, since it generates important economic spillovers and gives great projection to the South Californian scenarios.

The Baja 1000 brings together just over 60 thousand fans, more than 400 teams from different countries, as well as more than 150 media from the five continents that provide coverage throughout the journey, hence the importance of this race being held .

“From SETUES we will work to do everything possible to lay the foundations that contribute to events such as the Baja 1000 being held. United States Ambassador recognizes the successful tourism recovery of Los Cabos

Baja California Sur has been selected to participate in the national project "Integration of biodiversity conservation criteria in the tourism sector in Mexico, with an emphasis on the richness of biodiversity in coastal ecosystems", through which it seeks to promote and consolidate the sustainable development of the industry in the country, informed the Secretary of Tourism, Economy and Sustainability (SETUES), Luis Humberto Araiza López.

Accompanied by the executive president of Conservation of the Mexican Insular Territory AC, better known as Grupo Isla, María Helena Martínez Delgado, the official thanked the determined work of the members of this association, who for almost six years worked so that the entity was considered in This program whose main purpose is to strengthen tourism as an engine of development and economic growth, capable of protecting biodiversity and generating well-being in all sectors of society, based on four components that include: regulatory framework, financing and investment for the conservation, design of good practices of tourist activities and promotion of Mexico as a friendly destination with the environment.

Araiza López pointed out that this project, headed by the federal SECTUR, will apply a total of 7.2 million dollars from the World Environment Fund, which he commented, will be distributed between Mexico City, Oaxaca, Quintana Roo and Baja California Sur , highlighting that in the case of the State, it will have the participation of the state government and the Autonomous University (UABCS).

In the company of the Secretary of Tourism, Economy and Sustainability of the State, Luis Humberto Araiza López, -who concluded his term as president of ASETUR-, the mayor began his participation explaining that during the high season of 2020, it is estimated to have a recovery of 60% of the tourist influx that was had in 2019, translating into the visit of 170 thousand foreign and national tourists.

“Los Cabos, foresees an important hotel recovery for the end of the year. Until the end of October, the destination has registered a 74% recovery in international tourism, and in terms of national tourism, it is at last year's levels, so the destination receives tourists according to the allowed capacity thanks to the security protocols that we have stipulated ”, explained the mayor.

In relation to one of the main attractions of the destination, Castro Guzmán reminded those present of the 22 beaches with the international distinctive "Blue Flag", recognized and valued by millions of people in the world, in addition to highlighting what: Viudas, Santa María, El Chileno, Palmilla and Acapulquito, have the “Platinum Beach” certification that positions them worldwide.
