Faced with the effects of the health crisis, sustainable tourism is an alternative for the economic and labor reactivation of the entire country, as well as a tool for development and prosperity for rural communities, said the Secretary of Tourism, Economy and Sustainability (SETUES) , Luis Humberto Araiza López.

After witnessing, in his capacity as president of the Union of Secretaries of Mexico (ASETUR), the signing of the collaboration agreement between the Secretariat of Tourism (SECTUR) and the United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO), represented by Miguel Torruco Marqués and Frédéric Vacheron Oriol, respectively.

This instrument aims to implement actions that promote education, science, culture and communication to encourage sustainable tourism, which allows its benefits to reach more sectors of the population, thus seeking a balanced development of the different regions of Mexico.

Likewise, he stressed that the towns and rural areas of BCS have a great amount of natural, cultural and patrimonial wealth that are of great value for the international tourism market; Therefore, it celebrated the signing of this agreement, since it will pay to improve the quality and conditions of life of Mexican families.

“From the State Government we express our approval with the celebration of this agreement, which will incorporate mechanisms that guarantee the participation of the communities in the chain of benefits generated by tourism; and that, in turn, will contribute to the conservation of the natural and cultural heritage that distinguish our country as a world-class destination ”, concluded Luis Araiza.

"Baja California Sur has a responsible tourism sector committed to health, which has allowed this industry to continue to recover from the pandemic," said the Secretary of Tourism, Economy and Sustainability (SETUES), Luis Humberto Araiza López, when delivery of 85 Punto Limpio certificates to businessmen in the field in Los Cabos, which endorses the hygiene of the services and facilities of the establishments that hold it, as well as guarantees the adoption of preventive measures against COVID-19.

“We give special recognition to all tourism entrepreneurs for their determined and committed collaboration in these strategies that aim to strengthen the tourism potential of our entity. Thanks to this joint effort, we continue to advance on the route of restoring our economy and the well-being of families ”, he mentioned.

The head of SETUES also presented S Distinctions to the "Sheraton Grand Los Cabos Hacienda del Mar" and "Fiesta Americana Grand Los Cabos" hotels, for having adopted good sustainable practices, under the global criteria that exist in this matter.

Finally, Luis Araiza ratified the will of the State Government to continue working hand in hand with the sector, to ensure that its recovery is maintained in an orderly and responsible manner.

Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the Ninth edition of the Los Cabos International Film Festival, Baja California Sur, will take place virtually and for free from November 11th to 19th.

Baja California Sur will be the first destination in Latin America to receive the international certification from Intertek Cristal, this being the main business tool that each space in the VIP Summit will have to offer its services.

Finally, the general director of FITURCA, Rodrigo Esponda mentioned that said event had an approximate investment of 2 million pesos, a lower sum than in previous years due to the virtual platform, he also explained that the destination has been favored In recent months, since there is an 80% recovery in traffic, flights and international connections continue to increase and without a doubt, the demand for tourism in Los Cabos continues to increase, with a longer average stay, so, he said, we are the destination is in the best scenario.
